In most audio setups, the microphone is the first instrument in the signal chain. Everything that happens to the sound from this point onwards is influenced largely by the selection and placement of the microphone. The acoustics also have an important impact on the final result. Understanding the basic principles of microphones and their influence on the signal chain is therefore essential for any audio professional.

For example, in which situation would you use a condenser over a dynamic mic? Should the singer use a hypercardiod or a supercardioid polar pattern? Should you use one or two mics to capture a snare drum? Does such a thing as an ideal microphone exist?

What you will learn at Wired Mastered?

During the Wired Mastered seminar, you will learn about the history of the modern microphone and the scientific fundamentals behind it. You will also learn about the various directional characteristics that are used, along with their relevant characteristics.

Thanks to practical demonstrations from some of the industry’s top engineers, you will hear and learn proven techniques that you can immediately put to good use.

The second part of the seminar will be hands-on. This will allow you to hear the differences between various instrument miking techniques. You will also experience for yourself what the advantages or disadvantages are of using a particular microphone in a given situation.

This seminar takes place at

013 Poppodium
Veemarktstraat 44
5038 CV Tilburg
The Netherlands

from 10h till 16h30 and will be in English.

Our audio experts will attend the seminar to welcome you all.
